Nana, the Newf

Congratulations to Nana and Paul, our newest therapy dog team! Nana is a two-year-old Newfoundland - one of four at her house. When she's not giving comfort, she's carting, teaching the younger Newfs how to be grown-up dogs, or sharing an ice cream cone with her Dad.

Surrey, the Cattle Dog

When she isn't out herding something her Dad, Terry, says "Surrey loves to ride in my Jeep, but because it’s so open so I got her a harness and Doggles for when she goes with me." What a life!

Murphy, the Therapy Dog

For those of you who don't know my dog, he's a big (almost 90 lbs) exuberant, thoroughly goofy Labrador Retriever ... with great obedience skills and the sweetest of temperaments. He's three years old and I have worked with him since he was eight weeks. Today all that work paid off. Murphy and I passed our Delta Society evaluation!!! He gets to officially do what he does best, interact with people as a therapy dog - in hospitals, nursing homes, etc.

Woohoo!

Freebies

The economy, gas prices and the election may have you frazzled but you can still participate in cool dog stuff. Go to my website and click on Events Calendar. There is something going on most weekends for you and your dog. Remember to take advantage of Stony Point, the dog friendly mall and all the wonderful local and state parks where dogs on leash are welcome.

Also, I am presenting a program at the Sandston Public Library on October 15. The program is free but registration is required. All you need is a Henrico County Public Library card to register. On November 9, I am offering a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Mock Evaluation - free and open to the public. Click here to register. Spectators are welcome.

Coming soon: an opportunity to meet CCI puppy raisers and their puppies.
